Winter Blues… Stop Them In Their Tracks!

It’s amazing how much the weather and seasons affect me… and the people around me!

Am I the only one, or have you also noticed a strange negativity floating through the air?! I’ve been struggling to combat it, and finally feel like I’ve become successful.  Wanna know my tips?  Here they are..

  1. Stay active – Winter has a strange way of cooping people up inside their homes.  This leads to a lack of social life, which I honestly believe get people down in the dumps.  I mean to stay active however it fits best in your life.  For me, I just don’t stop moving.  Wherever I am.  I don’t stop to watch TV and veg… It just hasn’t happened, and I’ve noticed my energy levels (surprisingly) up because of it.
  2. Read an inspiring book – I’ve never been a big advocate for reading, because it’s just never resinated with me.  Lately though, I’ve found some pretty powerful books that truly relate to my life and what interests me now.  I’m currently reading and loving “If You Don’t Have Big Breasts Put Ribbons In Your Pigtails” by Barbara Corcoran.  It’s great, and it keeps my mind constantly working.
  3. Get out of the house!  Winter is cold and miserable, but that doesn’t mean you have to stay inside your house.  Change things up.  Find some local events going on and attend them.  Surround yourself with people, whether they’re strangers or friends.  We go to Trivia at the local pub every Thursday.  We love it and really helps to keep our social lives up during the winter!
  4. Stay organized – When I get down in the dumps, I get lazy.  I slack on my chores, and the house quickly falls apart… and then… I get even further depressed at the state of my house.  Don’t do that.  Just don’t.  Get a system going.  Stick to your schedules and you will find that you will become so happy and impressed by yourself and your house.  Am I saying it will be perfect?  No.  But it will be live-able and you’ll feel so much better about yourself!
  5. Create goals – Keep challenging yourself to excel in all areas of your life.  Continue to grow as a person.  Take risks!  It gets your adrenaline pumping and you feel so accomplished and proud when you’ve succeeded!
